Job description

Manufacturing Assistant
Expected Pay Rate: $20 - $25 per hour

The Manufacturing Assistant supports fabrication and production operations by handling and preparing material, readying equipment for use, performing secondary fabrication tasks, inspecting raw materials and parts, and documenting production activities. The Manufacturing Assistant helps ensure efficient workflow throughout the fabrication process by maintaining accurate production records, assisting skilled trades personnel, supporting equipment maintenance, and performing housekeeping activities. This position works closely with fabrication, welding, carpentry, assembly, and production teams to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards and engineering requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities / Essential Functions
  • Read and interpret work orders, production schedules, pick tickets, material labels, part drawings, and related documentation to support fabrication operations.
  • Pick, stage, and transport raw materials, components, tools, and finished products to support production activities.
  • Support fabrication personnel with equipment setup and changeovers by gathering required tools, fixtures, materials, and documentation.
  • Perform secondary fabrication tasks including deburring, grinding, cleaning, finishing, part preparation, and material processing.
  • Assist with the removal, dismantling, cleaning, and storage of tooling, fixtures, and production equipment .
  • Operate forklifts, hoists, pallet jacks, cranes, and other material handling equipment as needed and authorized.
  • Assist with entering, updating, and maintaining production, inventory, quality and operational data within company software systems and document control platforms.
  • Maintain work areas, equipment, and tools in a clean, organized, and safe condition in accordance with company policies and safety procedures.
  • Assist with day-to-day activities across welding, carpentry, assembly, logistics, and other production departments.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as required.

Skills / Specifications
  • Working knowledge of fabrication, manufacturing, assembly, and industrial production processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, fabrication drawings, production documentation, and basic engineering prints.
  • Ability to work safely around production equipment and follow established safety procedures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and the ability to learn company ERP and production tracking systems.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not require the supervision of direct reports.
Work Environment
This position operates in professional office, workshop, warehouse, manufacturing, production facility, and field environments which may include working near moving mechanical parts, powered industrial equipment, welding and fabrication operations, noise, dust, and varying temperatures while using tools of the trade and other production equipment.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to twist, turn, bend, lift, kneel, climb, walk, and stand. Frequent lifting and carrying of materials and components up to 75 lbs. may occur.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time hourly position. Standard days and hours are 40 hours per week, weekends and extended hours as needed. Ability to work flexible hours including nights, holidays, and weekends may be required based on operational needs.
Travel
Occasional travel may be required.
Required Education and Experience
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • One or more years of manufacturing, fabrication, warehouse, assembly, or industrial production experience preferred.
  • Forklift certification preferred, or ability to obtain certification required.

Work Authorization / Security Clearance
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal government security clearance.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
  • Must be able to travel within the Continental United States (CONUS) and Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS).
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) background check.
  • Must successfully pass pre-employment (post offer) drug test and motor vehicle record review.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license compliant with REAL ID requirements.
