Job description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead daily shop floor activities and assist in prioritizing work assignments.
  • Assist with troubleshooting machining, setup, tooling, fixture and equipment issues to minimize downtime.
  • Support production scheduling and ensure work is completed efficiently and on time.
  • Serve as a resource for team members regarding processes, equipment, and quality standards.
  • Monitor workflow and communicate staffing or production concerns to management.
  • Assist with onboarding and training of new employees.
  • Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with all safety requirements.
  • Support quality initiatives and assist in resolving production issues.
  • Foster teamwork, accountability, and positive employee relations.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure operational needs are met.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing, 5S, waste reduction, and process improvement activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Working knowledge of machining equipment, tooling, and inspection methods.
  • Must have experience with milling equipment and machine shop practices
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge of machine shop operations.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience serving as a lead, trainer, mentor, or informal team leader preferred
  • Ability to lead and influence others without direct authority.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
