Permacon is a leading North American manufacturer of concrete products serving the landscaping and masonry markets. The company operates 8 production facilities across Quebec and Ontario and employs more than 250 people throughout its various sites. Permacon is a division of Oldcastle® Architectural. 

Job Summary

We are currently looking for a Machine Operator for both rotating day/night shift and for the weekend shift at our Metcalfe plant in southern Ottawa, located at 6860 Bank Street, Ottawa, ON K0A 2P0.

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Operates Rekers machine (dry side) and ensure its good functioning;
  • Operate the strapping and wrapping machines and ensure its good functioning;
  • Operate all the equipment related to the machine;
  • Follow quality manual. Complete quality and production reports. Look after the curing of the products to ensure good curing of products;
  • Perform set-up changes;
  • Perform operations and necessary adjustments for machine start up;
  • Programs equipment in accordance with the product requested. Make and save product recipes to optimize product change over;
  • Perform preventive maintenance of equipment;
  • Participate in maintenance work;
  • Participate in machine clean-up. Clean up tasks as required, like cleaning Press / Mixer;
  • Participate in the Rekers department housekeeping. Keep his work area and toolbox clean;
  • Communicate to competent people any abnormalities or faulty situations regarding the product, quality, machine, equipment, workplace or other;
  • Work as a team;
  • Wear safety personal protective equipment as required for this position and work safely.

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma;
  • Wielding, mechanic, hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge will be an asset;
  • At least 2 years’ experience in the manufacturing industry operating equipment;
  • Team work oriented, Mechanical aptitude, initiative; responsible, able to react, be precise;
  • Shall pass the mechanical aptitude test to validate mechanical aptitude;
