Forklift Operator โ€“ Structural Steel Fabrication

Reports To: Shop B Shipping Lead

Position Summary
We are seeking a safety-focused and reliable Forklift Operator to join our Structural Steel fabrication team. This role is primarily responsible for operating rough terrain forklifts to move large steel components and skids throughout the yard and facility. The position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and supporting shipping and logistics operations to ensure materials are handled efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate rough terrain forklifts to transport structural steel, skids, and materials across the yard and production areas
  • Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently, ensuring material integrity
  • Support shipping and receiving activities, including staging, organizing, and verifying materials
  • Maintain awareness of surroundings and adhere to all site safety protocols and procedures
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and complete required documentation
  • Assist with general yard organization and material handling as required
  • Work collaboratively with the production, logistics, and shipping teams to meet operational timelines
  • Work overtime as required, including evenings and weekends

Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience operating forklifts in an industrial, construction, or fabrication environment
  • Experience handling large steel components, bundles, and skids is strongly preferred
  • Valid forklift certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong understanding of safe material handling practices
  • Strong work ethic and ability to communicate effectively.
  • CSA-approved safety boots and valid driverโ€™s license.
