Logistics Technician Position Summary:

The Logistics Technician supports the daily movement, warehousing, and packaging of raw materials and finished goods throughout Von Ebert’s locations. This is a hands-on, physical position with a heavy emphasis on keg washing, packaging line support, and keeping the warehouse accurate and organized. Dependability, attention to detail, and the discipline to follow written procedures every time are critical to this job. The Logistics Technician should take pride in a clean and organized workspace, be self-motivated to build skills across the brewery, and bring a fun and inspiring attitude to the team!

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Experience

  • Prior experience in warehousing, production, or brewery packaging preferred, but not required.
  • Experience operating keg washers, packaging equipment, or powered industrial trucks is a plus, but not required.

Personality Traits

  • Candidates must be dependable, motivated, and detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and clear written and verbal communication.
  • The ability to follow written procedures exactly, work at a steady pace, and speak up when something looks wrong is a requirement.

Education and Knowledge Base

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities are essential.
  • General understanding of the brewing process, equipment, and raw materials is a plus.
  • Must possess solid skills with basic mathematical computations and have basic computer functions knowledge, including MS Office and Google Drive.

Logistics Technician Duties and Responsibilities:

This job description is intended to describe the general level of work being performed; it is not intended to be all-inclusive. The duties of this position may change from time to time. Von Ebert Brewing reserves the right to add or delete duties and responsibilities.

General Logistics

  • Move raw materials and finished goods between the warehouse, coolers, and production areas as directed by the Logistics Lead.
  • Receive incoming raw material deliveries, verify counts and condition against paperwork, and report discrepancies to the Logistics Lead.
  • Pull, stage, wrap, and label pallets for internal transfers between Von Ebert locations.
  • Keep warehouse, cooler, and dock areas clean, organized, and clear of obstruction.
  • Rotate raw materials and finished goods by date code and follow FIFO in all storage areas.

Distribution

  • Stage and load kegs, cases, and pallets for distributor pick-ups and freight loads.
  • Verify outgoing loads against the pick ticket or BOL before release.
  • Receive, sort, and stage returned empty kegs and pallets.

Inventory Management

  • Count finished goods and raw materials for weekly and monthly physical inventories.
  • Report count discrepancies, damaged product, and short-dated inventory to the Logistics Lead.
  • Keep product staged by SKU and date code so counts are accurate and repeatable.

 Keg Washing

  • Operate the keg washer to run empty kegs through wash, sanitize, and purge cycles per SOP.
  • Inspect incoming empties for damage, off aromas, and foreign material; tag and pull any keg that fails inspection.
  • Verify and record wash chemical concentrations, temperatures, and cycle times.
  • Stage clean kegs for filling and keep clean and dirty keg areas clearly separated.

Packaging Line Assistance

  • Assist on the canning line, including depalletizing, can and lid supply, date coding, tray packing, and palletizing.
  • Fill and check kegs during keg runs, including seal checks, weight verification, and labeling.
  • Support changeovers, line cleaning, and end-of-run sanitation.
  • Record production counts, packaging material usage, and downtime as directed.

Maintenance

  • Clean and sanitize work areas, hoses, fittings, and equipment using proper operating and cleaning/sanitation procedures.
  • Report equipment problems, leaks, and safety hazards to the Logistics Lead immediately.

Brewery Tasks 

  • Help as-needed on brewery tasks, including but not limited to filling kegs, taking gravities, transferring beer, and other small cellar tasks.

Miscellaneous

  • Ability to safely drive and upkeep company vehicles including a cargo van and 26’ box truck.
  • Ensure all safety and security policies and procedures are followed, regular safety training is conducted and address all safety hazards immediately.
  • Builds positive, professional relationships with all brewing staff, ensuring positive morale and providing a fun work environment.

  • Glendoveer Location 
    • Brewery Equipment: 7 barrel, 3.5-vessel brew house, hot liquor tank, adjustable roller mill, augur, centrifugal pumps, diaphragm pump, CO2 supply lines, hard-piping, forklift.
    • Computer Equipment: laptop, sound system.
  • Production Location
    • Brewery Equipment: 30 barrel, 5 vessel brew house, 7 barrel, 3.5-vessel brew house, hot liquor tanks, adjustable roller mill, augur, centrifugal pumps, diaphragm pump, CO2 supply lines, hard-piping, forklift.
    • Computer Equipment: laptop, tablet, sound system.
  • Maintenance Equipment: mop, broom, brush, vacuum, tools
  • Transportation: valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, company van and box truck.
