Job description

Role Description The Logistics Manager is a full-time role responsible for overseeing marine logistics to support GOM’s tug and barge activities. This role coordinates vessel communications, navigational assessments, voyage plans, assignments, and schedules to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery across multiple industries and navigable waters. Day-to-day tasks include managing relationships with vessels, vendors, and clients; aligning logistics plans with director of operations, project requirements, marine forecast, environmental conditions, and supply chain activities related to supporting marine operations. The Logistics Manager collaborates with director of operations, all shoreside management teams, and vessel management teams to resolve issues, optimize resource utilization, and uphold safety and regulatory standards. This role also involves analysing logistics reports, performance data, vessel reports, and implementing process improvements to support operational excellence.


Qualifications

  • Strong Logistics Management and Supply Chain Management skills to coordinate marine transportation operations and route planning.
  • Experience with Inventory Management and Procurement to manage materials, supplies, and vendor relationships effectively.
  • Proficient Customer Service skills to communicate clearly with clients, partners, and internal teams and address logistics inquiries.
  • Background in marine, transportation, or related industries is preferred, with familiarity in tug and barge operations or maritime regulations; current MMC with towing endorsement is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple projects, and make data-informed decisions under time constraints.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including experience with logistics or software tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience is not required, though preferred.
