Job description

High School Mathematics Teacher

Department: Academic
Reports To: High School School Principal
FLSA Status: Exempt
Standard Hours: 40 hours per week
Scheduled Days per Year: 190

Position PurposeUnder the general supervision of the School Principal, the High School Mathematics Teacher is responsible for developing students’ mathematical knowledge, skills, and problem-solving abilities. The teacher delivers rigorous, engaging instruction that promotes logical reasoning, quantitative literacy, and real-world application while supporting the academic, spiritual, and covenant mission of Providence.Providence CompetenciesSpiritual Leadership

Essential Functions
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive high school mathematics curriculum aligned with school goals and academic standards.

  • Creates a classroom environment that is safe, welcoming, and conducive to whole-group, small-group, and individualized learning.

  • Designs lesson plans and instructional materials that promote sequential learning, critical thinking, and effective use of instructional time.

  • Instructs students in high school mathematics courses, which may include Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Statistics, or other advanced coursework as assigned.

  • Encourages mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and the application of mathematical concepts to real-world contexts.

  • Integrates technology and instructional tools to enhance student engagement and understanding.

  • Assesses student learning using formal and informal methods; analyzes data to inform instruction and adjust strategies to meet diverse learning needs, including those of students with special needs.

  • Provides individual and small-group instruction to support differentiated learning.

  • Prepares students for assessments, competitions, and post-secondary mathematical readiness as appropriate.

  • Participates in ongoing professional development through workshops, conferences, seminars, and continued study of best practices in mathematics education.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a faith-based educational environment.

  • ACSI certification preferred.
