Seasonal Logical Mathematical Jobs (NOW HIRING)

The individual in this position monitors and observes the Grandstand area, the barns, and other outside areas surrounding the Racetrack for disturbances, crimes, fire hazards, and undesirable persons and reports these issues to security supervision. He/she assists guests, horse owners, and racing officials by giving directions and answering questions in a friendly and courteous manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitors and observes the grandstand area, the barns, and other outside areas surrounding the race track for disturbances, crimes, fire hazards, and undesirable persons and reports these issues to security supervision.
• Assists guests, horse owners, and racing officials by giving directions and answering questions in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Inspects assigned areas for public safety and/or safety breaches and reports any potential situations to supervisor.
• Informs emergency first responders in case of fire, presence of unauthorized persons or other foreseen emergencies.
• Performs dispatch duties including but not limited to monitors activities on radio, receives and records incoming and outgoing calls on telephone and radio, dispatches appropriate staff and equipment during routine and emergency calls, relays questions or instructions from remote units, coordinates all police, fire, ambulance and other emergency activities, issues and receives public safety passes and maintains visitor log.
• Possesses and maintains knowledge of NM Racing Rules and Regulations
• Completes written reports as required.
• Controls and directs traffic as needed.
• Ensures the delivery of great customer service.
• Maintains a professional demeanor and a well-groomed appearance.
• Follows and Enforces New Mexico Racing Rules and Regulations

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This position works outdoors in very hot temperatures. The individual in this position must be on their feet either walking or standing for the entire shift. Must have a valid Driver's license with a clean driving record. Must be able to work around large animals (Horses).

Education/Experience:

Must have a high school diploma or GED. Bi-lingual is a plus.

Language Ability:

Must have the ability to read, write and speak English to prepare daily logs and shift reports and use a hand held radio. Skill in writing concise, logical, grammatically correct analytical reports.

Math Ability:

Basic arithmetic

Reasoning Ability:

Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices or procedures to define the problem, identify relevant concerns or factors and formulate logical and objective conclusions. Recognize alternatives and their implications.

Self-Management Skills:

Skill in performing under the stress of frequent interruptions and/or distractions. Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction. Ability to accept circumstances and take action where answers to a problem are not readily apparent.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Works outdoors and may work in inclement weather conditions. Exposure to second hand smoke and car exhaust.
