These roles help maintain patient care when regular staff are unavailable. Weekend locum work offers flexibility, competitive pay, and the opportunity to gain experience in different settings. It is commonly used in hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies to ensure continuity of service.

What does a typical weekend shift look like for a weekend locum?

As a Weekend Locum, your shifts often involve providing cover for regular staff by managing patient consultations, performing assessments, handling urgent cases, and carrying out routine procedures specific to the facility’s needs. You may work in hospitals, clinics, or urgent care centers, collaborating with permanent staff and sometimes overseeing junior healthcare professionals or support staff. Flexibility is key, as shift patterns and daily responsibilities can vary based on the patient caseload and the department’s requirements. This dynamic environment offers exposure to a variety of cases, broadening your experience and clinical skills.
