Job description

Job Title: Library Aide

Starting Rate: $11.90 per hour

Location / Department: Winters Bellbrook Community Library

Reports to: Youth Services Librarian

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hours: Variable, 10-20 hours per week (schedule includes daytime, evening and weekend hours)

Job Objective

To promote the mission and values of the Greene County Public Library. To carry out objectives and goals of the strategic plan to better serve the community. To perform routine shelving and organizing of materials. To perform basic repair of materials.

Requirements

Essential Job Functions
  • Organizes and shelves library materials.
  • Pulls requested library materials from shelves
  • Files magazines.
  • Organizes magazine collection.
  • Maintains orderly appearance shelves
  • Cleans, recovers, and makes minor repairs to library materials.
  • Files movies or cart of mixed materials as needed.
  • Attends conferences, workshops, seminars, and training to maintain knowledge as reflected in the training curriculum.
  • Keeps abreast of information by regularly reading email, minutes, the staff website and by attending staff meetings.
  • The supervisor may require other related duties. These duties are nonessential functions of this position


Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
  • Ability to read, alphabetize and put things in numerical or chronological order.
  • Ability to shelve materials accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to comprehend spoken and/or written communications and respond effectively.
  • Ability to follow directions, perform routine tasks, and work independently.
  • Must be punctual, dependable, tactful, and courteous.
Environmental Conditions
  • Work is performed in an office-like setting, but with need for considerable mobility: light lifting, bending, stooping, stretching and sitting at a variety of desks and service points.
  • Employee may be scheduled to work evening and weekend hours, including Sundays; schedules may be altered depending on the needs of the library.
