Part-Time

The Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant is seeking professional, highly motivated Cooks to work in a high-volume commercial kitchen environment. Position requires flexibility with scheduling.
Compensation:
$17.00-$22.00 /hour depending upon skills and experience
Expected Hours:
up to 30 hours/week

Essential Duties:
  • Proper food handling, storage, stocking, amp; rotation
  • Executing food products as intended based on the Chef’s guidelines and specifications
  • Keeps an inventory of their station’s products
  • Communication with service staff and management concerning new menu items, food preparation methods, availability, and substitutes of food items
  • Maintain sanitary conditions and work habits
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives and cooking appliances
  • Works independently and with minimal supervision
  • Perform other kitchen duties as assigned
  • Completes work in a timely and orderly fashion
Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in a scratch kitchen
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to read English and be able to reasonably communicate verbally in English
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to stand for long periods
  • Must be able to go up and down stairs in our multi-level kitchen
