Job description

Part-Time Library Assistant

The Part-Time Library Assistant is responsible for providing a full-range of duties and responsibilities in support of the assigned area of the library. This is a part-time position, working 15-18 hours per week.

Examples Of Duties

Provides a high level of customer service to assist students.

Handles all functions at the Circulation Desk, including check in/check out of materials, registering and updating library cards, etc. through online Library automation system.

Answers telephone and responds to questions, forwards calls, as appropriate.

Shelves library materials, according to LC Classification system.

Responds to general inquiries and requests for information and forwards Reference inquiries to appropriate librarian.

Assists students with obtaining prints and with basic troubleshooting of printers.

Performs other duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.

Minimum 1 year experience in library setting preferred.

Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Access.

Ability to work a flexible schedule with varied hours, including nights and weekends, to meet department and College needs.

Possess the ability to work well and communicate effectively with prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administration, and colleagues and community partners.

Paid Time Off: Employees will earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, as defined by the New Jersey Earned Sick Leave Law.
