As a Corrections Library Assistant with the Department of Corrections, you will help manage daily library operations and support inmate workers at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Frackville. This role promotes steady routines, helpful guidance, and strong customer service skills.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK This role supports daily library operations and helps maintain a safe, organized environment for inmates and staff. As a Corrections Library Assistant, you will perform the following duties: Library Operations: Monitor daily activities and assist patrons with finding and using library materials Worker Oversight: Guide inmate workers, review attendance, and help with training and scheduling Service Coordination: Manage call-outs, track inmate accountability, and support housing unit library services Material Circulation: Process interlibrary loans, check requests against restrictions, and assist with copying needs Daily Communication: Answer questions from inmates and staff and provide helpful information Collection Support: Recommend new books and periodicals to strengthen the library collection Interested in learning more.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Sunday - Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55
