Machine Operator - Steel Mill Operations
Location: Bartonville/Peoria, IL
Department: Steel Mill
Hourly Wage: $19.65 base + $4-$7/hour incentive pay after training
Shift Options: Swing shift rotation | Overtime and weekend/holiday availability required
Become a Steel Mill Machine Operator at Liberty Steel & Wire!
Do you want to work at the core of steel production? At Liberty Steel & Wire, our Steel Mill Machine Operators play a vital role in transforming raw materials into the steel products that build our world.
Join our union-backed team through the Independent Steel Workers' Alliance (ISWA) and shape the future of American steel.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform daily clean-up and housekeeping tasks
Operate heavy equipment including forklifts and bobcats
Conduct routine maintenance (lubrication, inspections)
Move and manage raw materials and finished products
Follow detailed safety protocols and SOPs
Train and support new team members
Take on various tasks as assigned by leadership
Job Requirements:
Must be able to:
Climb stairs/ladders, work at heights, and in confined spaces
Stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
Perform repetitive motion and physical tasks
Work in extreme environmental conditions (heat, cold, noise, humidity)
Additional Requirements:
Willingness to work swing shifts, weekends, and overtime
Strong situational awareness and safety focus
Ability to follow instructions with precision
