Production Machinist

POSITION DESCRIPTION
Level 1 Fasteners in Huntington WV is looking for Production Machinists/or trainees willing to learn the trade. Our machinists operate a variety of fastener manufacturing machines including grinders, manual lathes, CNC lathes and mills, stamping presses, drill presses, trimmers hot headers and cold headers. Machinists in our company produce fasteners to military and aerospace specifications. They need to be able to set up and operate a variety of machines (grinders, manual lathes, CNC lathes and mills, stamping presses, drill presses, trimmers and cold headers) to produce precision parts and be able to apply knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures to their work. Machinists need to possess manual dexterity and an eye for detail. The goal of our company is to ensure efficient production of quality fasteners to our customers using lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.

JOB TYPE

Full-time 6am-2:30pm. Overtime and weekend work is sometimes required.

JOB DUTIES

  • Willingness to learn a new trade and experience as machinist is a plus
  • Will need to be able to read and understand blueprint drawings on routers to ensure production goals are met and customer requirements are met.
  • Machine parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as grinders, lathes, milling machines, drills and stamping presses.
  • Set up, adjust, or operate basic or specialized machine tools used to perform precision machining operations.
  • Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines.
  • Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
  • Measure, examine, or test completed fasteners to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Maintain machine tools in proper operational condition.
  • Check work pieces to ensure that they are properly lubricated or cooled.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow safety procedures.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Mechanical ability and machinist experience a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, push or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, and balance.
  • The employee must regularly lift and or move objects up to 60 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include: close vision, distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
