Job description

HGS Engineering, Inc., is a professional services consulting firm providing comprehensive environmental, engineering, health/safety, emergency management, and information technology support to the federal government and private clients. MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • B.S. in chemical, environmental, biological sciences, physical sciences, or engineering with 24 credit hours in chemistry and 16 credit hours in general microbiology and biology.
  • 2 years of experience in the environmental analysis of representative inorganic or organic analytes for which the lab seeks or maintains accreditation. (Legionella and HPC)
  • A Master's or doctoral degree in one of the above disciplines may be substituted for one year of experience.

DESCRIPTION: As the Technical Supervisor, your tasks will include:

  • overseeing the daily operations of the laboratory;
  • supervising, evaluating, and - when necessary - correcting the work of laboratory technical staff;
  • monitoring performance data and the validity of the analyses for the laboratory;
  • working with other members of laboratory management to ensure compliance with relevant standards;
  • serving as a subject matter expert for all current laboratory analytes as well as the laboratory's quality management system, including the Quality Assurance Manual, standard operating procedures, record keeping practices, relevant standards, and other associated forms and documents;
  • participating in annual audits of laboratory processes to ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable regulatory requirements;
  • implementing corrective actions designed by the Quality Manager for any identified non-conformances and/or deficiencies in laboratory processes and/or results
  • assisting the lab staff in processing incoming samples (as needed);
  • reviewing all lab reports for data quality and accuracy;
  • performing other related duties as assigned.

  • Must be authorized to work in the US.

  • Must pass a pre-employment motor vehicle records report
  • Must be able to spend long hours on your feet in the laboratory
