Job description

Hagar Enterprises is a paving and excavation contractor in Damariscotta, Maine specializing in all phases of site work, utility installation and road construction since 1987.


Hagar Enterprises has an Immediate opening for:



Laborer


Come join a busy family-owned excavation and paving company that relies heavily on our General Laborers to get the daily work completed. Our Laborers provide support for the daily operations of our crews.  Positions available for entry level and skilled laborers.   

Duties will include, but not be limited, to the following:


· Operate and care for construction equipment, tools and machines
· Operate heavy equipment (Excavators, Loaders, Paving roller)
· Site preparation and clean-up
· Shoveling, raking, operating a wheelbarrow 
· Installing asphalt, gravel, or other construction-related materials.
· Operating basic equipment such as plate compactors, hand tools and shop equipment
· Carrying, moving, stacking, or otherwise transporting heavy objects 
· Other duties as assigned by the supervisor


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must be at least 18 years of age 
  • Ability to work effectively with others as a member of a team and follow instructions from supervisors 
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy loads, climb ladders, and perform manual labor tasks.
  • Willingness to learn and has a positive attitude. 


Work Conditions / Physical Demands:


· Normally standing with freedom of movement on a regular basis.
· Must be able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
· Work will occur outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather conditions such as rain, ice, snow and heat.
· Will often be required to work long hours and sometimes nights and weekends during the construction and plowing season.
· Regular physical activity requires walking, climbing, bending, standing, pushing, pulling and lifting 
· Work environment is in a road construction setting, which includes exposure to various hazards such as dust, vehicle traffic, elevated noise levels, etc.
