Job description

Description Title: Graduate Assistant, Research (Honarvar Lab) Position Number: 0000GA11 Hiring Unit: College of Natural Sciences, PCSU Location: University of Hawaii at Manoa Full Time/Part Time: Part -Time, 50% FTE Temporary/Permanent: Temporary Funding: Federal Other Conditions: Position is expected to begin approximately August 2026 or as mutually acceptable. Renewal of appointment is dependent on performance, program needs and/or availability of funds. Duties and Responsibilities Collect data and create maps of the predicted suitable puaiohi habitat resulting from predator and ungulate management under different climate scenarios.

Collect additional data on birds, the habitat and a series of ecological parameters that we can use to further our understanding of suitable habitat. Entering all the collected data and starting the analysis process. Minimum Qualifications B.S

equivalent degree in biology or ecology. Full time graduate student in the College of Natural Sciences Graduate Programs, UHM. Must have basic knowledge of bee biology, ecology,molecular biology, population genetics analysis, field work, and working with birds.

Skills in applying basic laboratory techniques to answer research questions; ability to organize tasks and to work independently; ability to write scientific reports; excellent oral and written communication skills. Desirable Qualifications Experience in creating maps from data sets, working with birds, and data entry.
