Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Lab Assistant for the department of Neurosurgery at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, Senior Research Associate and Postdoctoral Researchers, the Lab Assistant will assist with neuroimaging research projects. The individual will design, test, and evaluate methods and protocols for processing and analyzing neuroimaging data, including structural CT/MRI, resting-state fMRI, DTI, and task-based fMRI, using statistical, computational, and machine-learning approaches. The neuroimaging data will be interpreted along with the study subject's demographic information and neurocognitive performance scores. This person will summarize and organize collected data and publish the results of investigations in professional journals. The individual should work at some level of independence under the mentorship of the PI and Senior Research Associate.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Aid with research in publication editing, bioinformatics analysis, neuroimaging analysis, statistical analysis, data visualization, and histology.
  • Develop and maintain reproducible workflows using Python, R, or comparable tools for neuroimaging data processing, quality control, statistical analysis, and visualization.
  • Apply statistical and machine-learning methods, including functional connectivity analysis, and integrate imaging-derived features with demographic, clinical, behavioral, and neurocognitive data.
  • Prepare figures, tables, analytical reports, and technical documentation for presentations, publications, and collaboration while maintaining data quality, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • Assists in maintaining records and files.
  • Ensures maintenance of laboratory equipment is in good working order.
  • Keeps detailed records of procedures and experiments.
