To thrive as a Weekend Lab Assistant, you should have a solid background in basic laboratory procedures, safety protocols, and at least a high school diploma or equivalent, with higher education in the sciences preferred. Familiarity with lab equipment such as centrifuges, spectrophotometers, and laboratory information management systems (LIMS) is often required. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication set candidates apart in this role. These abilities are crucial for ensuring accurate sample handling, data recording, and maintaining a safe laboratory environment during non-standard work hours.
As a Weekend Lab Assistant, your primary duties include preparing and processing samples, maintaining lab equipment, recording data accurately, and ensuring the lab is clean and organized. You may also assist with inventory management, support researchers or senior technicians, and follow established protocols for safety and quality control. Due to the weekend schedule, you may work more independently but will still receive guidance from laboratory supervisors. ResponsibilitiesRESPONSIBLE FOR: Performs sample processing and exempt screening and monitoring tests in accordance with CMS (CLIA ?88), OSHA and the Georgia Department of Community Health and other applicable regulatory, established standards as may be applicable. Performs venipunctures, and obtains/prepares blood specimens in accordance with Piedmont policies and procedures. Assists technical staff in non-clinical tasks.
QualificationsMINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:High School graduate or GED

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:None
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:Phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ASPT, NCA or equivalent agency is preferred. Basic knowledge of venipuncture/phlebotomy is preferred. Working knowledge of clinical laboratory processes is preferred. Experience in performing EKGs is preferred. Experience working in healthcare or clinical laboratory setting is preferred.
