This position is for full time days with rotating weekends. Job Summary and Qualifications

​​The Laboratory Assistant is responsible assisting with the technical and clerical aspects of the laboratory department, such as managing collection, acceptance, receipt and processing of all specimens into the laboratory department (s). The Laboratory Assistant will complete computerized registration of patient samples using laboratory information system (lis), performs waived testing, as trained. Assists technical staff by organizing and preparing samples for testing, such as centrifugation, preparation of smears for staining, and placing samples on analyzers for testing that do not require programming. Responsible for contacting external facilities to report stat and critical results, as well as completing basic quality control steps (i.e. Sterility testing, new lot qualification). The Laboratory Assistant’s position may include direct supervision of students at the discretion of the area supervisor. The Lab Assistant position requires the same licensure or completed training to satisfy the requirements of the discipline of the student. Assists in the technical and clerical aspects of the laboratory department​.
