Processes and receives specimens into the laboratory, following laboratory protocol for specimen acceptability and rejection. Enters outpatient orders into Laboratory Information System. Collects chain of custody drug screens for pre-employment, post-accident, and just cause cases according to protocol. Assists with frozen sections and clerical duties as needed. Performs other related functions as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
-A high school diploma or GED; Completion of a formal training course in phlebotomy procedures from an accredited school or training program preferred. Must provide documented evidence to perform waived testing.
Experience:
One year phlebotomy experience including obtaining specimens from neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients is preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required along with moderate knowledge of medical terminology.
Licenses/Certificates: Current BLS certification
