Job description

Job Summary:
Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) is a federal systems support contractor focused on delivering solutions in maritime IT and systems engineering. They are seeking a Systems Administrator, VI SME to manage virtual infrastructure, ensuring system security and performance while coordinating with various teams.
Responsibilities:
• Key responsibilities include the maintenance, installation, updating, and security of operating systems and applications, utilizing platforms like VMware vCenter, VMware Horizon View, and VMware ESXi, along with storage solutions such as Rubrik, Cohesity, and Pure Storage. The administrator is tasked with maintaining Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance, managing DoD PKI requirements, and ensuring all systems are integrated into the Endpoint Security Solutions (ESS) architecture.
• Additionally, the role involves monitoring security and performance logs, managing ServiceNow tickets, and participating in technical meetings to provide expert recommendations. The administrator will also handle backup and restoration processes, support command exercises and inspections, and manage the Continuity of Operations (COOP) for VOE systems.
• The VI System Administrator is expected to create, maintain, and update VOE Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and provide monthly status reports detailing accomplishments, ongoing issues, and efforts requiring government action. Occasional after-hours and weekend work may be necessary to support service outages. This position requires a proactive approach to system management and strong collaboration with developers and cybersecurity staff to ensure a secure, efficient virtual infrastructure.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• IAW DoDM 8410.03, must meet Intermediate Proficiency level.
• Must possess ONE of the following 8570 IAT-II certifications: CCNA Security, CySA+ (Cybersecurity Analyst), GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional), GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials Certification), Security+ CE, or SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner).
• Minimum High School Diploma/GED.
• Must have at least three years of experience managing and supporting VMWare vCenter & Horizon View environments.
• Must have experience securing systems and applications in accordance with Federal, DoD and customer regulations, directives, policies and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG).
• Must have at least two years of experience managing Cisco UCS in a DoD environment.
• Must have experience managing VMware NSX.
• Must have experience managing Rubrik and Cohesity.
• Must have experience managing VMware vSan, vCOPS, vRO, Aria, and ESXi in a DoD environment.
• Must have experience managing Tintri and Pure storage.
• Must have experience supporting Endpoint Security Solutions (ESS) agents.
• Must be 'VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) 6 [or later]' certified in good standing.
• Must be able to work occasional after-hours and weekend work, as required to support service outages.
Preferred:
• BS degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science, from an ABET accredited or CAE designated institution, preferred.
