Job description

Position Summary

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate inventory records, material transactions, and inventory control processes to support manufacturing, service, and operational activities. This role ensures inventory accuracy, material availability, and proper inventory management practices while supporting parts and service, warehouse, and shipping/receiving.

The Inventory Specialist works closely with shipping/receiving as well as parts and service to support operational efficiency, inventory optimization, and timely material availability.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions

(Included but not limited to the following)

• Maintain accurate inventory records, material transactions, and inventory control documentation within company systems

• Monitor inventory levels and support material availability

• Perform cycle counts, physical inventory audits, and inventory reconciliations to ensure inventory accuracy

• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, shortages, overages, and transaction issues

• Process inventory receipts, transfers, adjustments, returns, and material movements accurately and timely

• Operate a fork truck and other industrial equipment to support shipping and receiving to act as a backfill

• Support shipping and receiving activities related to inventory verification and documentation

• Maintain organized inventory storage locations and assist with inventory optimization initiatives

• Generate inventory reports, analysis, and tracking documentation as requested

• Assist with implementation and maintenance of inventory control procedures and continuous improvement initiatives

• Ensure compliance with company procedures, inventory policies, and quality standards

• Support ERP system inventory management functions and data accuracy

• Assist with inventory planning and coordination for service parts

• Maintain confidentiality of company and inventory-related information

• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned

Required Knowledge & Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of inventory control, warehouse operations, and material management processes

• Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills

• Operate fork truck and other industrial equipment safely

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel

• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP preferred

• Ability to analyze inventory data and resolve discrepancies effectively

• Strong communication and teamwork skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Basic understanding of manufacturing, industrial equipment, or supply chain operations preferred

• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments

• Continuous improvement mindset and process accuracy focus

• General knowledge and familiarity with ISO 14001 and 9001 concepts preferred

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• 2+ years of inventory control, warehouse, logistics, or material management experience preferred, but not required

• Experience in manufacturing, industrial equipment, or automation environments preferred

• Experience with ERP systems and inventory reporting preferred

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times

Physical/Mental/Environment Demands

• Must be able to lift/move up to 50 lbs occasionally

• Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, and use hands/fingers for computer and warehouse equipment operation

• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and focus adjustment

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and inventory-related deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Position may require overtime or weekend work during inventory counts or operational demands

• Work is performed in office, warehouse, and manufacturing environments with exposure to industrial conditions

• Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required in warehouse and manufacturing areas
