Mechanical design of semiconductor handling equipment, tools, and automation systems. Responsible for developing new designs from concept through manufacturing, implementing design improvements to existing tools, and supporting technical discussions with customers. This role also involves designing next-generation products, supporting first articles for new or upgraded tools, and managing the Engineering Change (EC) process using standard document control methods. Customer installation support may be required as needed.

A strong understanding of electrical controls and troubleshooting is a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical design using AutoCAD Inventor software, including 3D modeling and 2D drawing creation.
  • Develop electrical control designs, including schematics, component selection, and assembly support.
  • Support first article builds, inspections, and approvals.
  • Create, update, and maintain Engineering Change (EC) documentation and libraries.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure designs meet requirements and customer expectations.
  • Work in a mixed office and workshop environment, combining computer-based design work with hands-on production activities.
  • Provide technical support to the sales team and directly to customers.
  • Support customer installations and field-related activities as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of AutoCAD Inventor experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of mechanical design experience.
  • Experience designing semiconductor wafer handling or automation equipment.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, motion control systems, sensors, and servo motors.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, assembly methods, and machine integration.
  • Experience with BOM creation, document control, and revision management.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
  • Electrical design experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor industry standards and cleanroom environments.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for customer support or installations.
