Actively Interviewing for Mechanical Engineering Technician to join global animal health company in Lithia Springs, GA!

Job Description

The Mechanical Engineering Technician installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and performs preventative and predictive maintenance on a wide range of manufacturing equipment and utility systems in a regulated, startup manufacturing environment. This role requires strong mechanical, electrical, and control systems skills, along with the ability to work safely, maintain compliance with cGMP and site SOPs, and support the development and optimization of new processes as the facility scales.

Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative and predictive maintenance on a wide variety of manufacturing equipment and utility systems using strong electrical, mechanical, and PLC skills.
  • Work effectively in a startup environment by adapting quickly to changes, leading the development and optimization of new processes, and identifying opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support process scale-up, Lab process scaling, and Method Transfers, ensuring procedures remain sustainable and scalable as the site grows.
  • Manage inventory and resources efficiently, and troubleshoot unexpected challenges that arise during equipment startup, qualification, and routine operation.
  • Participate in and support FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), SAT (Site Acceptance Testing), CQV (Commissioning, Qualification, and Validation), media runs, and engineering runs for new and existing equipment.
  • Improve equipment and system maintenance by developing and refining predictive and preventative maintenance programs and practices.
  • Determine parts and materials required for repairs, submit requisitions, and ensure timely availability of critical spare parts.
  • Service primary equipment including bioreactors, fermenters, centrifuges, CIP (Clean-in-Place) systems, purified water systems, chemistry control lab systems, neutralization systems, and kill systems.

Essential Skills

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3–5 years of experience in electro/mechanical, electronics, refrigeration, or a closely related technical field.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with mechanical troubleshooting and repair.
  • Demonstrated experience in a GMP or other regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with electrical systems, controls, PLCs, electronics, and basic refrigeration concepts.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to competently operate and maintain a working knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Experience performing preventative and predictive maintenance on industrial equipment and utility systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited technical or trade school in electro/mechanical, electronics, refrigeration, or a related field, with approximately 2 years of industrial experience, preferred.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical or other highly regulated manufacturing environments, preferred.
  • HVAC experience preferred
  • Experience with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems.
  • Familiarity with Windows-based operating systems.
  • Experience supporting FAT, SAT, CQV, media runs, and engineering runs for equipment startup and validation.
  • Experience working with bioreactors, fermenters, centrifuges, CIP systems, purified water systems, chemistry control lab systems, neutralization systems, and kill systems.

Work Environment

This role is based in a new, approximately 640,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Lithia Springs, GA, which is currently under construction and ramping up operations toward future large-scale production. The environment is a dynamic startup setting within a regulated manufacturing context, focused on advanced biopharmaceutical processes involving equipment such as bioreactors, fermenters, centrifuges, CIP systems, purified water systems, chemistry control lab systems, neutralization systems, and kill systems.

The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a maximum of 40 hours per week. Occasional weekend support may be required; when weekend work occurs, a weekday off is provided to maintain work–life balance.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lithia Springs, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $45.00/hr.
