Pay Range:

The pay range for this position is listed below. Actual pay rate dependent upon experience.

$18.00 - $23.50

Position Highlights

PRN Varied shifts as needed; Need availability to work year round

Primarily days: 8 - 10 hour shifts between the hours of 5am - 5:30 pm.

Weekend rotation every 2 months and occasional holidays from 5am - 7am.

A Brief Overview
Performs venipuncture and capillary blood collection following approved techniques and policies for hospital inpatients and clinic outpatients. The Phlebotomist also organizes specimen collection requests, performs patient clinical laboratory specimen collection procedures, specimen transport, specimen processing, testing dispersal, point-of-care testing procedures, and other pre-analytic functions following established standards and practices.
What you will do

  • Collects blood and other specimen collection and processing procedures in a competent manner that does not result in the need for repeat collections or valid complaints from patients or clients.
  • Properly identifies patients before specimen collection. Able to explain the collection procedure and provides the necessary preparation and collection instructions to patients.
  • Completes patient registration and test order computer data entry as required by established standards and procedures.
  • Labels, transports or stores collected specimens as directed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Communicates with internal and external customers in a professional and efficient manner via telephone, pager or in person.
  • Interprets inpatient and outpatient test orders to determine appropriate collection time and specimen types to be collected.
  • Performs selected point-of-care testing according to established standards and procedures.
  • Assists with analysis, collection and maintenance of records as required by regulatory agencies and/or federal, state, or local law.

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • High School or GED Equivalent
  • Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
