A Weekend Infusion RN is a registered nurse who administers intravenous (IV) therapies, medications, and treatments to patients during weekends. They work in outpatient clinics, hospitals, or home health settings, ensuring safe and effective infusion therapy. Responsibilities include monitoring patients for reactions, maintaining IV access, and educating patients about their treatments. This role requires strong IV skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. It is ideal for nurses seeking flexible weekend hours while providing critical care to patients requiring infusion services.
As a Weekend Infusion RN, you will primarily administer intravenous medications, monitor patients for side effects, and educate them about their treatment plans—often in outpatient clinics, specialty centers, or sometimes patients' homes. The work environment is usually focused and patient-centered, with collaboration between RNs, pharmacists, and physicians, especially for complex cases.
