Job description

Maintenance Controls Technician / Electrical Automation Technician

Full-Time | 1st or 2nd Shift During Training | Nights After Training | $36–$39.50/hr + Shift Differential | $5,000 Sign-On Bonus

If you're the technician everyone calls when the PLC acts up, the line goes down, or a machine refuses to cooperate, keep reading.

We're looking for an experienced Maintenance Controls Technician to join a modern, highly automated manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on role where you'll troubleshoot electrical and automation systems, make PLC program changes, optimize equipment, and help keep production running at full speed.

If you enjoy solving problems instead of just replacing parts, you'll fit right in.

What You'll Do

  • Troubleshoot and repair automated manufacturing equipment
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and controls-related issues
  • Program, modify, and troubleshoot Allen Bradley PLCs (Studio 5000)
  • Work with VFDs, HMIs, motion controls, ABB drives, sensors, motors, and automated systems
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints
  • Perform root cause analysis to eliminate repeat failures
  • Install, repair, and maintain electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Support continuous improvement projects and equipment upgrades
  • Work closely with maintenance, engineering, and production teams

What We're Looking For

  • 4+ years of industrial maintenance experience
  • Strong PLC troubleshooting experience (Allen Bradley preferred)
  • Experience with electrical controls, automation, and industrial machinery
  • Knowledge of VFDs, HMIs, motors, drives, and control systems
  • Ability to read electrical prints and troubleshoot safely
  • High School Diploma or GED

Pay & Benefits

  • $36.00-$39.50/hour starting pay
  • Top rate up to $41.50/hour
  • $2.00/hour night shift differential
  • $5,000 Sign-On Bonus
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance
  • Life Insurance
  • Paid Holidays
  • Paid Time Off

Schedule

  • Training will be on 1st or 2nd shift
  • Candidates must be flexible, as shift placement cannot be guaranteed
  • After training, you'll move to a 12-hour night shift (5:45 PM - 6:00 AM) on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule, providing every other weekend off

Work Environment

This is a fast-paced industrial manufacturing facility where you'll work around automated production equipment. The role requires standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing, working at heights, and occasionally working in warm temperatures.

Why Apply?

This isn't a job where you'll spend your day doing routine maintenance. You'll work on advanced automation systems, solve challenging electrical and controls problems, and play a key role in keeping a highly automated operation running efficiently. If you're looking for a career that values your troubleshooting skills and rewards technical ability with excellent pay, strong benefits, and long-term stability, we'd like to hear from you.

Apply today and put your controls and automation skills to work in a facility where your expertise makes a real impact.

About Rockstar Mechanics

Sourced by ZipRecruiter

Rockstar Recruiting started in 2018 over a breakfast meeting between two recruiters, introduced through a mother-in-law. By the time the eggs arrived, it was clear they both shared a passion for recruiting, had similar beliefs as to how the job should be done, and most importantly, each had a problem that the other could solve. The company has continued to grow: millwrights and fire protection recruiting were added to with dedicated recruiters on each team. Through the company’s growth, the team has remained true to their goals of doing the job the right way.
