Job description

Lead HVAC Installer

Burns & McBride Home Comfort \u007C New Castle, DE

Experienced HVAC installers know that great work requires more than technical skill. It takes the right materials, clear communication, strong coordination, and a company that gives its field teams the support needed to complete installations correctly.

At Burns & McBride Home Comfort, we’re looking for an experienced Lead HVAC Installer who takes pride in craftsmanship, leads by example, and wants to work for a company that values quality over shortcuts. You’ll take ownership of residential installation projects, guide apprentices and helpers, and work closely with our sales, service, warehouse, and operations teams to keep jobs moving smoothly.

You’ll have the opportunity to make decisions in the field, develop less-experienced team members, and deliver installations you’re proud to put your name on. With steady work, strong operational support, and opportunities to continue growing, Burns & McBride offers experienced installers a place to build the next stage of their careers.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead residential HVAC replacement and installation projects from start to finish.
  • Install furnaces, boilers, air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, mini-splits, thermostats, and indoor air quality equipment.
  • Complete ductwork modifications, refrigerant piping, condensate drainage, venting, gas piping, wiring, and system connections.
  • Direct, train, and support apprentices and installation helpers.
  • Perform equipment startups, charging, airflow verification, testing, and commissioning.
  • Troubleshoot installation issues and ensure work meets manufacturer requirements, applicable codes, and company standards.
  • Review job information and communicate equipment, material, or scope concerns promptly.
  • Protect customers’ homes and maintain a clean, safe, and professional jobsite.
  • Explain system operation, maintenance expectations, and warranty information to homeowners.
  • Complete accurate job documentation, equipment records, and required photos.
  • Coordinate with sales, service, dispatch, warehouse, and leadership teams.
  • Maintain assigned vehicles, tools, equipment, materials, and inventory.
What We’re Looking For
  • Previous experience leading residential HVAC replacement and installation projects.
  • Ability to independently complete residential HVAC installations from start to finish.
  • Strong knowledge of heating and cooling equipment, ductwork, refrigeration, airflow, venting, and system commissioning.
  • Strong troubleshooting, leadership, and jobsite problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to train and direct apprentices or installation helpers.
  • Commitment to quality workmanship, safety, and code compliance.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • EPA Universal Certification required.
  • Applicable trade licenses or certifications preferred.
  • Comfortable using tablets, mobile applications, and field service software.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to perform physical work in attics, basements, crawl spaces, mechanical rooms, and outdoor conditions.
Why Work at Burns & McBride?
  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Performance-based earning opportunities
  • Steady, year-round installation demand
  • Strong office, warehouse, and operational support
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) with Company Match
  • Paid Time Off and Paid Holidays
  • Company-Provided Vehicle
  • Company Phone or Tablet
  • Uniforms Provided
  • Ongoing Paid Technical and Leadership Training
  • Career Advancement Opportunities
  • The opportunity to train and develop future HVAC professionals
  • A professional environment that values quality, accountability, and teamwork
What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means taking ownership of each installation, delivering clean and dependable workmanship, and ensuring every system operates correctly before the job is complete. You’ll set the standard for the installation team, develop less-experienced employees, and help Burns & McBride continue earning customer trust through quality, professionalism, and consistent execution.
