What is a weekend host?

Weekend Hosts are individuals employed primarily to greet, assist, and manage guests during weekends at venues such as restaurants, hotels, event spaces, or entertainment centers. Their responsibilities often include welcoming guests, coordinating seating arrangements, answering questions, and ensuring a positive visitor experience. Weekend Hosts play a key role in managing busy periods, handling reservations, and addressing guest concerns efficiently. The role requires strong communication and organizational skills, along with a friendly and professional demeanor. Weekend Hosts often work part-time and may have flexible hours specifically on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a weekend host?

Familiarity with reservation systems, point-of-sale (POS) software, and basic office tools is typically required. Proactively anticipating guest needs and staying flexible helps handle unexpected situations, such as last-minute changes or high customer influx. Regular team check-ins and clear protocols also support a collaborative and efficient work environment.

Overall, weekend hosting is usually considered an entry-level or part-time role with modest pay.
