OVERNIGHT SUMMER CAMP
Agnes Arnold: Conroe, TX
Misty Meadows: Conroe, TX
Casa Mare: Seabrook, TX
VIRTUAL CAMP TOURS

Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council runs three yearly summer overnight camps: Misty Meadows Ranch, Camp Agnes Arnold, and Casa Mare. GSSJC camp staff will be trained to work at all three camps, but primarily work at Misty Meadows and Agnes Arnold in Conroe, TX.
Staff will live and work onsite Sunday noon through Friday 6:30pm and one (1) weekend Friday 6:30pm through Saturday 5:30pm. Room and board is provided for all staff. Living accommodations are primarily climate controlled, but staff must be willing to live, sleep, and work in non-airconditioned spaces.


SUMMER OVERNIGHT CAMP STAFF POSITIONS

Counselor
Counselors are assigned to a group of campers and a living unit with a co-counselor each week. Counselors are responsible for managing their assigned campers, their campersโ€™ weekly schedule of activities, and facilitation of their campersโ€™ activities. Counselors spend all daily programing time with their assigned group of campers facilitating camp activities. Counselors report to the Assistant Camp Directors. Due to the nature of overnight camp arrangements, the requirement is this role is filled by a female staff who also identifies as female.
Assistant Counselor
Assistant Counselors are applicants who have graduated the GSSJC CIT/WIT program but are under the age of 18. Assistant Counselors are responsible for assisting in the managing of their assigned campers, their campersโ€™ weekly schedule of activities, and facilitation of their campersโ€™ activities. Assistant Counselors spend all daily programing time with their assigned group of campers facilitating camp activities. Counselors report to the Assistant Camp Directors. Due to the nature of overnight camp arrangements, the requirement is this role is filled by a female staff who also identifies as female. (Can be 16 years of age or older.)
Lifeguard
Lifeguards facilitate day-to-day pool operations and/or waterfront operations and spend all daily programing time lifeguarding at their assigned pool or the waterfront. Lifeguards report to the Aquatics Director. (Can be 16 years of age or older.)
Sailing Counselor
Sailing Counselors facilitate sailing activities at Casa Mare. During weeks sailing is not happening at Casa Mare, Sailing Counselors will act as Counselors at Misty Meadows Ranch and Camp Agnes Arnold. managing their assigned campers, their campersโ€™ weekly schedule of activities, and facilitation of their campersโ€™ activities. Sailing Counselors spend all daily programing time with their assigned group of campers facilitating camp activities. Sailing Counselors report to the Assistant Camp Directors. Due to the nature of overnight camp arrangements, the requirement is this role is filled by a female staff who also identifies as female.
Sailing Staff
Sailing Staff facilitate sailing activities at Casa Mare. During weeks sailing is not happening at Casa Mare, Sailing Staff will act as Program Specialists or Counselors at Misty Meadows Ranch and Camp Agnes Arnold. Sailing Staff report to the Program Directors.
Equestrian Counselor (FILLED)
Equestrian Counselors are counselors for our horseback riding sessions and lead equestrian programs at the barn and general camp activities for their campers with their co-counselor. Equestrian Counselors spend half of the daily programing time in the barn facilitating equestrian programs for campers and the other half of the programing time facilitating general camp activities for their campers. Equestrian Counselors report to the Equestrian Program Manager and Assistant Camp Director. Due to the nature of overnight camp arrangements, the requirement is this role is filled by a female staff who also identifies as female.
Equestrian Staff (FILLED)
Equestrian Staff lead equestrian programs such as Western and English riding lessons, vaulting lessons, and ground school lessons throughout the week. Equestrian staff spend all program time in the barn facilitating equestrian programs for campers and report to the Equestrian Program Manager. (Can be 16 years of age or older.)
Media Staff
Media Specialist are responsible for capturing photos and videos of campers and staff and uploading photos and videos to the GSSJC photo share site daily as well as working with the Marketing Director to create engaging marketing material. Applicants should have experience using a DSLR camera and knowledge of social media trends for marketing purposes. The Media Specialists will be responsible for creating their own daily schedule and managing their time to photograph all activities taking place at camp daily. Media Specialists report to the GSSJC Marketing Director and Camp Director.
General Information:
GSSJC provides applicable trainings and certifications for hired staff.
All staff are considered role models to all campers at GSSJC overnight camps and are expected to participate in camp activities such as evening all camp activities, meals in the lodge, evening camper supervision, and camp check in and check out.
Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older (except Sailing Staff and Equestrian Staff can be 16+ years of age)
  • Enjoy working with youth
  • Valid Driverโ€™s License - if driving is a required duty at camp (for the position offered)
  • Ability to reside at the camp property for the duration of the camp season and occasionally live in non-airconditioned spaces (All meals and housing arrangements are covered by GSSJC for Overnight Camp positions)
  • This position performs its duties indoors and in outdoor weather conditions. This position is exposed to outdoor weather conditions, requiring a tolerance to work in hot summer conditions. Not all sleeping arrangements will be climate controlled.
