Description
For nearly 100 years, YMCA Camp Chandler has influenced the lives of thousands of young men and women. As horseback director, the sweet smell of hay and leather greet you every morning as you get ready for teaching and overseeing our horseback riding program.
Responsibilities
Duties include taking care of 6 to 7 horses and teaching children ages 6 to 15 to ride the horses. In addition, the Horseback Director will assist in other camp duties as needed. You will have a hand in developing our riding program for kids of all experience levels in addition to planning seven sessions of our Wrangler program. The Wrangler Program is a specialty riding camp for our week-long campers. Responsibilities include: teaching children ages 6-15 to ride, development of curriculum, supervising ~8 wranglers a week, maintaining safety standards, upkeep of areas and equipment, feed and care of all horses. Non-cabin staff position. CHA certification a plus.
Qualifications
You must be highly motivated and reliable. Must be 18 years old or older. Equestrian teaching experience is required. CHA certification a plus. Ideal candidates for horseback director at Camp Chandler have experience working with children and horses, are enthusiastic, and have a love for the outdoors.
Pay Range: $445 per week
