The assistant director of athletics communication is responsible for assisting with all aspects of promoting Meredith's athletic teams and disseminating information to appropriate outlets including the NCAA, USA South Athletic Conference, media, and the College.
The assistant director of athletics communication is a part-time position reporting to the Director of Athletics Communication. This person will assist with the following:
Duties:
- File required game day statistics with the NCAA and USA South Conference.
- Develop and strengthen local and regional sports media contacts, including writing and distributing releases, answering athletic media requests, coordinating press conferences and submitting game results and statistics to area/student-athlete hometown media.
- Assist with managing the website for goavengingangels.com, Meredith's athletics website. Responsibilities include developing, posting, and regularly updating written, photographic, and other content.
- Maintain and expand the social media presence for athletics to increase the visibility of Meredith's athletics teams in accordance with NCAA and college guidelines.
- Enhance video content for distribution on athletics website and through social media outlets to promote athletic teams.
- Work with the director of visual communications and the College's licensing agency to expand the licensing of Meredith's athletics marks in a manner that is consistent with the College's brand image and reputation.
- Develop pregame publicity, game day programs, media guides, and produce athletics webcasts and podcasts.
- Coordinate game day event set-up (including light physical work-i.e. movement of tables, chairs, etc.) and student staff for all home events.
- Support special athletic events, including the Halos Award ceremony, Meredith Golf Classic, and alumnae-athlete events, as directed by the associate athletics director.
Qualifications:
- The position requires superior organizational, written, and oral communication skills, ability to operate PrestoSports and NCAA Live Stats software systems for each of Meredith's intercollegiate sports, experience with content management system, video editing, night and weekend work, as well as light travel.
- Valid NC Driver's License with clear driving history required.
- Experience with video editing software a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in sports marketing/management, communication, or related field required and 2-3 years relevant experience preferred.
