PAY & SCHEDULE

 

Compensation: This position is compensated on a piece-rate basis. Pay varies based on the type and scope of each installation and the number of installations completed. The estimated earnings range is provided as a general representation of typical compensation for the position and is not guaranteed hourly wage.

 

Estimated Earnings Range: $19 - $26 per hour, depending on knowledge and experience

 

Schedule: Monday – Friday

Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week. Daily hours may vary based on business needs and assigned installations.


Willingness to work overtime and/or weekends, as needed, is required.



JOB SUMMARY


The Lead Installer is responsible for the safe, efficient, and high-quality installation and replacement of residential HVAC equipment and related systems. This position works as part of a two-person installation team and is responsible for leading the installation process, ensuring proper workmanship, safety, and customer satisfaction.


The Lead Installer is expected to have strong knowledge of HVAC installation practices, modify ductwork as needed, adapt installations to individual job requirements, and complete work in accordance with applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, and company procedures.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The responsibilities outlined below represent the primary duties of this position. Responsibilities are performed in accordance with company procedures, applicable standards, and job requirements, with the level of supervision and support appropriate to the employee’s experience and level of training.

  • Install and replace residential HVAC equipment, including:
    • Gas and electric furnaces
    • Heat pumps
    • Geothermal systems
    • Air conditioners
    • Air handlers
    • Water heaters
    • Related equipment
  • Install ductless mini-split systems and related components.
  • Install and service residential dehumidification and humidification systems, including bypass, powered, and steam units.
  • Modify, fabricate, and adjust ductwork to accommodate individual installation requirements.
  • Safely work with various refrigerants, natural gas, and propane systems.
  • Safely work with electrical systems and various voltages, including systems up to 480 volts, 3-phase.
  • Perform brazing and other HVAC installation procedures using high-temperature torches and appropriate fuel gases, including propane, acetylene, and oxygen.
  • Safely use and handle high-pressure nitrogen and refrigerants during installation and related HVAC procedures.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and other equipment necessary to complete HVAC installations.
  • Complete installations in a professional and workmanlike manner while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and customer service.
  • Follow applicable safety procedures, building codes, manufacturer specifications, and company policies.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area throughout the installation process.



BASIC REQUIREMENTS

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


  • Valid driver’s license
  • CFC certification is required or must be obtained, with company assistance and training provided. 
  • State Journeyman license is a plus; McCrea supports employees in obtaining applicable Journeyman licensing.
  • Working knowledge of residential HVAC systems and installation practices.
  • Ability to safely use basic hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers and work effectively with team members.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS 


The physical requirements described below are representative of the physical abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crawl, reach, stretch, climb, and work in awkward positions. The position may require working in confined spaces, at elevated heights, and on ladders. The employee must be able to safely use common hand and power tools.

 

The employee must be able to lift and carry equipment and materials weighing up to 70 pounds and work in varying indoor and outdoor temperatures and weather conditions.



WORK ENVIRONMENT 

 

The work environment described below is representative of the conditions an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of the position. Employees are expected to follow all applicable safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.


Work is primarily performed in residential homes, including attics, crawl spaces, basements, garages, closets, mechanical rooms, and other limited-access areas.


Employees may be exposed to varying indoor and outdoor temperatures, weather conditions, dust, insulation, and other common residential materials. Work may occur around HVAC equipment, electrical systems, gas lines, tools, ladders, and other mechanical equipment, with occasional exposure to elevated noise levels.
