Job Title: Kitchen Helper

Position Type: Casual / On-Call (days and evenings)
Department: Food Services / Dietary Services


Job Summary

The Kitchen Helper supports food service operations in a long-term care environment by assisting with meal preparation, food service, dishwashing, sanitation, and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen. The role contributes to providing nutritious meals and quality service to residents while following food safety standards and infection-control procedures.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assisted with food preparation, including washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning ingredients.
  • Prepared meal trays and supported meal service for residents.
  • Washed dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintained cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas according to health and safety standards.
  • Stored food, supplies, and inventory properly following food safety guidelines.
  • Assisted cooks and dietary staff with daily kitchen operations.
  • Followed Food Safe, infection control, and workplace safety procedures.
