Job description

Communicable Disease And Immunization Program Coordinator

The DeKalb County Health Department is seeking a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Communicable Disease and Immunization Program Coordinator. This exempt position reports directly to the Director of Community Health and Prevention. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated leadership experience; excellent communication and analytical skills; a comprehensive knowledge of epidemiologic principles and techniques related to the surveillance, investigation, and control of communicable diseases and outbreak investigations.

Responsibilities
  • Oversees surveillance, investigation, treatment and control of communicable diseases and outbreaks with attention to epidemiology factors.
  • Assists with developing investigation and surveillance systems, including the development of protocols, data collection tools, and reporting procedures.
  • Coordinates and oversees the TB program including TB testing, screening, monitoring and treatment of active and latent tuberculosis cases. Coordinates investigation and potential treatment with State and Center for Disease Control officials.
  • Oversees Adult and Travel Immunizations program providing guidance and recommendations to staff in immunizations for adults and consultations for international travelers, including agency seasonal influenza and COVID-19 vaccination efforts.
  • Coordinates Childhood Immunizations and Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program assuring Vaccine for Children (VFC) quality measures are achieved.
  • Oversees the Ryan White HIV Case Management Program.
  • Participates as a member of the internal and Countywide Emergency Preparedness teams.
  • Oversees the Employee Health Program for the agency to include yearly TB screening and testing, new hire recommendations for immunizations and annual flu vaccinations.
  • Collaborates and works with community health partners to build and maintain relationships that enhance delivery of public health services.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse, Bachelor's Degree preferred, with a minimum of 2 years' experience in nursing.
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in public health or similar field with a minimum of 2 years' experience working in a public health setting.
  • Minimum of 2 years' supervisory experience required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to problem solve, provide leadership and be part of the team.
  • Ability to be flexible and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in learning and using computer software, databases, and other technology.
  • Occasional on-call shifts are required, including weekends and holidays.
