Position Overview
As an Outdoor Living Sales Team Member at Hartville Hardware, you will play a key role in helping customers bring their outdoor vision to life. From patio furniture and grills to accessories and seasonal products, you will guide guests through our outdoor living department with product knowledge, genuine enthusiasm, and a commitment to exceptional service.
This is a part-time role averaging 15 to 25 hours per week, with availability required for evenings and weekends. It is a great fit for someone who enjoys connecting with people, loves outdoor living products, and takes pride in creating a great shopping experience.
What You Will Do
Customer Service & Sales
- Greet and assist customers in the outdoor living department with enthusiasm and strong product knowledge
- Provide personalized recommendations for outdoor furniture, grills, patio accessories, and related products
- Effectively communicate product features and benefits to help customers make confident purchase decisions
- Upsell and cross-sell complementary products to enhance the customer's overall experience
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, returns, exchanges, and warranty-related issues professionally and promptly
Product Knowledge
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of outdoor living products, including features, benefits, and care requirements
- Stay current on industry trends, new product releases, and advancements in outdoor living technology
- Collaborate with vendors and manufacturers to stay informed about new offerings and product updates
Merchandising & Inventory
- Ensure the outdoor living department is well-organized, clean, and visually appealing at all times
- Work with the merchandising team to create displays that showcase featured products effectively
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs to the inventory control team
- Conduct regular checks for damaged or defective merchandise and initiate necessary actions
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with fellow sales associates, customer service representatives, and department management
- Use point-of-sale systems and product information tools accurately and efficiently
What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience in retail sales, preferably in outdoor living, home improvement, or a related category
- Strong product knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for outdoor living products, including grills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - you enjoy working with people
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and stay focused on sales and service goals
- Basic computer skills for point-of-sale transactions and product information retrieval
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Availability for evenings and weekends required
