Permanent Neonatology Physician

Position Type: Permanent
Specialty: Physician - Neonatology
Location: Roanoke, VA
Shift: Varied clinical and administrative schedule (typically -hour neonatal coverage shifts)

Position Details:
Patient Population: Neonatal
Setting: Level IIIB NICU (60-bed unit)
Responsibilities: Provide clinical care in a Level IIIB NICU; serve as Practice Medical Director overseeing clinical operations and provider performance; lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives; drive clinical innovation and program development; collaborate with hospital leadership and academic partners; participate in teaching medical students and residents; mentor residents in quality improvement and research; support scholarly and academic initiatives.
Required Procedures: High-frequency ventilation, Nitric oxide therapy
Support Staff: Multidisciplinary pediatric subspecialists, including Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Pediatric Surgery
Days Per Month:
On-Call/Weekends: Rotational weekend NICU coverage (24-hour shifts) and shared rotational neonatal call coverage

Submission Requirements:

  • Board Certified in Neonatology (Board Eligible not accepted)
  • MD or DO degree with Virginia Medical License (or willingness to obtain)
  • Leadership experience in NICU or clinical program development and Neonatology experience (experienced candidates only)
  • Most recent NPDB Self Query Report (within 30 days) and DEA (prior to start); specify whether visa support (J1/H1B) is required
