Our BMC Inpatient Operating Rooms offer support and comes fully equipped to help you do what YOU do best, provide care for our patients!

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

  • This unit has a highly experienced team that supports 24 new state of the art inpatient/outpatient operating rooms and 8 heart and vascular and neurology interventional procedure rooms, performing surgical procedures to restore and enhance the lives of patients.
  • This unit operates 24/7 with coverage and support expectations of weekends and off-shift rotations at least quarterly.

What You'll Do

Under the direction of the Unit Manager, RN Clinical Operations Coordinator, and RN Service Leads, you will:

  • Facilitate safe and effective surgical procedures under surgeon guidance

  • Maintain and monitor the sterile field

  • Apply expert knowledge of aseptic technique, instrumentation, anatomy, and surgical processes

  • Anticipate surgeon needs with precision and focus

  • Support minimally invasive, invasive, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures

  • Function confidently across multiple surgical specialties

Your ability to anticipate, adapt, and collaborate ensures efficient procedures and optimal patient outcomes.

Career Growth: Tech I, II, III

This position is part of a career ladder, offering professional growth as you advance in skill, experience, and responsibility.

Tech I
  • Associate of Science in Surgical Technology (or accredited equivalent program)

  • AST Certification*

  • American Heart Association BLS

  • Entry-level

*Certification required for new hires without surgical facility experience prior to July 1, 2013.

Tech II
  • Same educational and certification requirements as Tech I

  • Minimum 2 years of experience

  • 1 year at BMC or 2 years comparable experience with demonstrated competency

Tech III
  • Same educational and certification requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of experience

  • 1 year of employment at Baystate Health

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered where applicable.

Compensation & Benefits

Baystate Health offers competitive total compensation, including salary, a robust benefits package, and recognition programs. Compensation is determined by factors such as experience, education, certifications, and job complexity.

Please note: Base pay range does not include comprehensive benefits or incentive pay.

Sign-On Bonus Eligibility

Up to $3,000 sign-on bonus available for qualified external candidates with experience including recent graduates. (Subject to change)
