Job description

GES is looking for a hands-on Environmental Field Technician to help operate and maintain groundwater treatment systems at our site in Northwest Indiana. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in wastewater or environmental fieldwork, groundwater sampling, subcontractor oversight, landfill inspections, who wants to work on interesting projects with a supportive team.
Key Responsibilities 
  • Operate and maintain groundwater pumps, wells, piping, and treatment equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment like pumps, flow meters, and control systems (PLCs).
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance to keep systems running smoothly.
  • Collect and handle water and waste samples for testing.
  • Maintenance of property, such as gravel access roads, including snow removal.
  • Keep accurate records of your work and report data using company computers.
  • Follow safety rules and company procedures at all times.
  • Be available for occasional after-hours or weekend work for emergencies.
Preferred Requirements
  • High school diploma, degree, or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Some experience working in wastewater, environmental fieldwork, or mechanical maintenance.
  • Mechanical skills and ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Willingness to learn and follow safety procedures.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification a plus (training provided if needed).
  • First aid and CPR training.
  • Confined space and lock-out/tag-out training.
  • Experience with sample collection and shipping.
