Job description

As a reel grinder technician at Cabot Citrus Farms, you will perform work involving the care of large and small equipment, including riding and push mowers. The primary responsibility will be to ensure all mowing units are inspected, adjusted and sharpened properly using grinding equipment.


Work Schedule:

The Reel Grinder Technician will be required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. The position requires the individual to fulfill a posted work schedule based on operational necessities, as deemed essential by Cabot and its business demands. From time to time, as the weather and golf course conditions demand, overtime shifts may be required. The posted work schedule will be available in advance Bi-weekly.


Core Accountabilities:

  • Ensure a safe, clean, and productive work environment at all times.
  • Perform daily mowing unit inspection and operate reel and rotary sharping equipment.
  • Ability to operate a Foley Accu-master spin and relief grinder
  • Familiar with 8/11/14 blade set up with precision
  • Knowledge of a Foley bed knife grinders.
  • Ability to grind and set bed knives using precision measuring tools. Ex: micrometer, accugage and dial indicators.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to diagnose identify and correct inconsistencies to achieve elite appearance of golf course
  • Understanding reel precision grinding and set-up
  • Maintain accurate records and document the equipment repairs, parts, and inventories used.
  • Data Tracking; Ensure all equipment daily check in records are completed accurately
  • Operate all department equipment in a responsible and safe manner at all times.
  • Ensure all equipment and buildings are cleaned and inspected daily as per company standards.
  • Always maintain a pleasant and professional manner when addressing associates, contractors, sales personnel, and/or any guests that may enter the premises.
  • Learn golf terminology and the importance of each playable area such as green, tees fairway, and bunker.
  • Adhere to the Cabot Employee Reference Handbook; Policies, Rules, and Guidelines
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • 2 Years’ experience as a Golf Course Equipment Technician
  • Mechanical Aptitude and demonstrates the ability to safely and efficiently operate the majority of the resort maintenance equipment.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Information System (WHIMIS)
  • Act as an ambassador for Cabot and as a role model for staff and others
  • Demonstrate quality written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to follow oral and written directions in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Able to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including early mornings, nights/weekends, and holidays.
  • The ability to obtain First Aid Training within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Positive, can-do attitude, and professional manner and appearance in all situations
  • The willingness to adapt to new methods and standards.
  • Previous mechanical experience or transferable skillset
  • Experience with the operations of Foley grinding units
  • Valid Driver’s License


Physical Demands:

Must have the ability to:

  • Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and wind
  • Communicate verbally with staff members and/or customers with or without the use of two-way radios.
  • Ability to spend long hours moving around, walking, sitting, standing, kneeling, reaching, shoveling and/or raking.
  • Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to work with and around motorized equipment movement hazards, and misdirected golf balls.
