Job description

About the Position:
Under supervision of the Director of Grounds/Maintenance or the Assistant Grounds Supervisors, perform work involving the use of large and small equipment, including but limited to tractors, mowers, loaders, trenchers, chainsaws, weed-eaters, and other maintenance equipment; perform routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance; and do semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work. Each groundskeeper may be assigned responsibility for the care and maintenance of several designated tasks or areas on the golf course and does related work as required.

Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course tees, fairways, greens, etc..
  • Working knowledge of mechanics/mechanical operations, maintenance tools.
  • Familiarity with golf, and how the job affects the game of golf.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools and equipment.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs..
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Eye for detail.
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and occasionally nights.

Specific Responsibilities- include but not limited to:
  • Operate mowers and string trimmers in trimming greens, aprons, tees, around trees, fence lines, banks and hillsides.
  • Operates front-deck mower, spreader, top-dresser, SandPro, front loader, Gator, tractor, finish mower, greens mower, or greens roller.
  • Mows greens, aprons, fairways, roughs, tees and other areas.
  • Edges, rakes and maintains sand bunkers.
  • Aerifies greens, verticuts tees and greens, spikes greens, operates spray rigs and spreaders, operates portable pumps, and operates other equipment as directed.
  • Ensures all equipment is working properly, and reports equipment problems and failures to Equipment Manager.
  • Cleans equipment daily.
  • Performs basic preventative maintenance on equipment, as directed.
  • Returns equipment to designated location at the maintenance facility and cleans maintenance area.
  • Drives work cart to haul materials and refuse; uses loaders to move sand, dirt, debris and other materials.
  • Sets tee markers and cups on greens as directed; sands and seeds tee and drop area divots, on a daily basis.
  • Maintains ball washers; replaces water, drinking cups, tee towels, and flags when needed.
  • Waters tees, greens and fairways; operates irrigation heads in dry areas.
  • Trims and prunes hedges/ shrubbery.
  • Helps in project work; assists in the construction of new greens, tees and fairways.
  • Adhering to all Club policies, procedures and operating procedures.
  • Keep all work areas clean, orderly and safe.
  • Help others when you are not busy and they will help you. TEAM WORK!
  • Other duties as assigned.
