We offer an exceptional golfing experience for players of all skill levels at an affordable price-and we're looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team!
Position: Golf Course Aide
Location: Mission Hills Golf Course, Hayward, CA
Positions Available: 3
Start Date: ASAP
Status: Part-time, Year-round
Hourly Rate: $17.74/hour - $23.94/hour
Schedule: Up to 18 hours per week, including weekends (Saturday & Sunday)
Classification: Hourly, FLSA Non-exempt
Annual Hour Limit: Not to exceed 960 hours per fiscal year (July 1 - June 30)

POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinator II, the Golf course Aid position provides optimal customer service, anticipates and fulfills customer needs in a variety of responsibilities as assigned, which include but are not limited to working in Cart Barn, Driving Range, and/or Course Play (Range).
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Incumbents in this class are primarily responsible for performing driving range and golf course duties. This class can be distinguished from the class of Starter Pro Shop because incumbents in this class primarily serve the outside area of Golf operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Incumbents may not perform all duties. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Interacts with guest and staff in a polite, cordial manner, assisting in whatever way to ensure quality service and an enjoyable golfing experience
  • Maintains friendly appearance; greet customers with a smile
  • Carries out starting and Marshalling duties when required
  • Ensures clothing is clean, pressed, in good condition and overall attire/appearance meets dress code guidelines
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area
  • Keeps Supervisor promptly and fully informed with calendar of event and all problems or unusual matters of significance
  • Driving Range sample tasks include
  • Attend range throughout the day maintaining cleanliness
  • Pick up and break down range
  • Cart Barn sample tasks include:
  • Stage golf carts
  • Maintain staging area
  • Cleans and maintains golf carts and cart barn area

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this position. The functions of this position are primarily performed in outdoor locations as part of a team. The setting includes various weather conditions, including heat and sunshine. Incumbents must wear an appropriate uniform with identification and protective equipment. The environment requires working in and around water as well as slippery and/or wet surfaces. Specialized aspects of the work environment may also include high noise levels, working with participants who are using potentially dangerous golf equipment. Incumbents may be assigned an irregular working schedule including weekends, early mornings, evenings and holidays.

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance: stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is also required to use feet, ankles, legs, hands and arms to operate necessary equipment. Must be able to perform moderate to heavy physical work with prolonged standing and walking for extended periods of time, walking over rough or uneven surfaces, stretching, bending, pushing, stooping, climbing, crouching, crawling, moving, lifting, and carrying loads weighing between 10-75 pounds. Occasional to frequent exposure to inclement weather conditions while performing work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Physically lift and carry golf balls and range ball cases up to 50lbs
  • Operate golf carts
  • Develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards

  • Golf course etiquette
  • Customer service fundamentals

Education/Experience/Training:
  • Some previous experience with a golf understanding is desirable
  • Must possess current certificates for CPR & First Aid, or the ability to get upon employment. and must maintain certifications thereafter as a condition of continued employment

Special Requirements:
  • At least 15 years of age
  • Must be able to obtain a work permit if under the age of 18
  • Provide proof of negative TB Skin Test
  • Possess or obtain by date of employment valid certification in CPR and First Aid
  • Possession of a valid CA Drivers License
  • Verification of ID and ability work in the USA
  • Any offer of employment to an adult employee who will have direct contact with minors is conditional upon a satisfactory fingerprint clearance and background check (DOJ)
