Position Summary

The Golf Course Grounds Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining the golf course in excellent playing condition. This position performs a variety of turfgrass and landscape maintenance tasks, operates golf course equipment, and assists with the daily setup and presentation of the course. Successful candidates will enjoy working outdoors, take pride in their work, and contribute to providing an outstanding golf experience for members and guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Turf Maintenance

  • Mow greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and other turf areas to established standards.
  • Maintain healthy turf conditions through proper mowing, trimming, and cultural practices.
  • Repair divots and ball marks to ensure quality playing surfaces.

Course Setup

  • Change cup locations and set holes according to golf course standards.
  • Move and position tee markers daily.
  • Empty trash receptacles and maintain a clean, professional appearance throughout the property.

Bunker Maintenance

  • Rake and maintain sand bunkers by hand or machine.
  • Edge bunker perimeters and remove weeds and debris.
  • Ensure bunkers are consistently prepared for play.

Landscape Maintenance

  • Trim around trees, cart paths, irrigation heads, signs, and buildings.
  • Maintain flower beds, shrubs, and ornamental landscaping.
  • Control weeds and assist with general beautification projects.

Irrigation and Course Repairs

  • Assist with minor irrigation repairs and maintenance.
  • Monitor course conditions and report issues to supervisors.
  • Support aerification, overseeding, and other maintenance projects as assigned.

Equipment Operation and Care

  • Safely operate mowing equipment, utility vehicles, and other grounds maintenance machinery.
  • Clean, fuel, and properly store equipment after use.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or damage immediately.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Ability to safely operate equipment after training.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous golf course maintenance, groundskeeping, landscaping, or related experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of turfgrass management and golf course maintenance practices is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn through on-the-job training.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, and cold temperatures.

Work Schedule

  • Early morning shifts, including weekends and holidays as required.
  • Additional hours may be necessary during tournaments, special events, or seasonal maintenance activities.
