Job Description
The incumbent in this position is responsible for performing skilled digital mapping involving the preparation and maintenance of digital maps and providing Geographic Information System (GIS) support to the Tribal Community Development (TCD) Department. The individual assists the GIS staff with systems analysis, maintenance, and update of the GIS data. The individual serves as a technician on projects involving GIS studies that require data creation, collection, editing, and manipulation; and provides supportive mapping data and analysis upon request, while in adherence to the Seminole Tribe of Florida GIS standards. The incumbent is expected to organize and maintain spatial and tabular data using GIS. This position works closely in collaboration with the Information Technology Department GIS Division. Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Geomatics, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering or related field with Geographic Information System (GIS) coursework is required. Certification as Geographic Information System Professional (GISP) is preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of GIS experience with at least two (2) years of experience working with ArcGIS Databases, AutoCAD and knowledge and understanding of GPS hardware and software packages. Knowledge and understanding of GIS/GPS database and principles, database, cartographic, geographic, statistical, and mathematical theory sufficient to perform geographic analyses is required. Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License is required. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing computer software packages. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
