Job description

A personal Care Assistant is needed for a young adult with a love of movies, music, burgers and fries, the Timberwolves, games and trivia. We need to make sure our almost 25 year old son has the support he needs to live his best life and he doesn't want to hang out with his parents. Our son uses a wheelchair for daily moving and has cerebral palsy.

Job must haves:

*Personable (a working knowledge of movies and music is helpful). Like to talk? Our son likes talkers! Our son is quiet until he gets to know you.

*Good driving record and would be comfortable driving an adaptive van.

*Attentive. While our son can do many things, watching out for obstacles while out and about is not high on his list.

*Can plan "adventures" to engage our son in new directions. We have adaptive equipment for hiking, he likes basketball, thrifting, etc.

*Would be willing to help with personal cares including safe transfers, if necessary. Our son has to feel comfortable with his helpers before this would even be part of the job. We have had college students work for us for years and have not had to help him in the bathroom. That said, there could be an emergency.

*Perfect job for a college student or someone wanting to add a couple more hours of work to their week.

*references required and in person interview

Hours paid through IRIS (State of Wisconsin). They will run a background check as well.

Job hours:

Part time. 1-2 days per week of 2-4 hours at a time. We are flexible with times but prefer either lunch time to afternoon or afternoon through evening.

Job Benefits:

*Get to hang out with an exceptional human being.

*Any food or snacks and tickets for games will be paid for while working with our son.

*$20/hour

*Potential for hours to grow. In the Personal Care world, sometimes connections between our son and his helper are a hit. We have 25 years of fantastic people who have helped us out in our home with our son, stayed with him for weekends or even traveled with us. Our current group of college students have just graduated or moved to new programs. It's hard to say good-bye when they become family!

*We also run a sheep farm and have dogs and cats that will around the house.
