Furnace/Palletizer Operator In Training (O.I.T)

Reports to: Production Supervisor

Location: San Marcos, Texas

About This Role

The Furnace/Palletizer Operator in Training is an entry level, hands-on role responsible for safely and efficiently operating the furnace and palletizing equipment to ensure consistent production flow, quality output, and adherence to safety and process standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position serves as a role to grow into an advanced operator role, supporting the qualified operators and Production Supervisor by providing daily operational assistance, learning troubleshooting and diagnostics, and ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and production standards.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Learning the operating instructions and monitoring requirements for furnace and palletizer equipment to maintain proper temperature, feed rates, O2 levels and product flow.
  • Loading/Unloading materials into the furnace and ensuring correct material mixtures according to production specifications.
  • Learning how to inspect product quality at various stages and adjusting machinery as needed to maintain standards.
  • Learning and assisting in monitoring system controls, recording data, and reporting any deviations or malfunctions to the supervisor, engineering, and maintenance.
  • Assisting in performing routine maintenance, including cleaning and lubrication of equipment.
  • Ensuring the work area is kept clean, safe, and organized.
  • Following all safety procedures, including PPE requirements and lockout/tagout processes.
  • Collaborating with team members and other departments to ensure smooth production flow.
  • Assisting with inventory control and material tracking as required.
We Are Looking For Someone Who
  • Has a High school diploma or GED required.
  • Possesses previous manufacturing or machine operation experience, preferred.
  • Can display basic mechanical skills and ability to use hand tools.
  • Is able to read and interpret production instructions, safety guidelines, and quality specifications.
  • Has a strong attention to detail and possesses the ability to multitask.
Physical Requirements
  • Is able to move up to 50lbs.
  • Possesses the manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
  • Can wear PPE.
  • Comfortable standing for long periods of time, up to and exceeding 60 minutes.
  • Is capable of making repetitive movements, including, but not limited to, sitting, squatting, and walking up and down stairs.
  • Has a willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends, if required.
  • Is comfortable with exposure to high temperatures, noise, and moving machinery.
