Job Overview

XPECT Solutions is seeking a Full Stack Developer to support our Federal Government Customer with delivering secure, cloud-based mission systems. The successful candidate will design, build, and maintain end-to-end applications spanning Java/Spring Boot microservices on the back end and modern React-based interfaces on the front end, deployed to AWS within a RHEL environment. The role works alongside solutions architects, DevSecOps engineers, and mission stakeholders to translate operational requirements into production-ready capabilities, with an emphasis on security, scalability, and continuous delivery.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architectures on the back end and React, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS on the front end.
  • Build and integrate RESTful and GraphQL APIs, applying Apache Camel for service orchestration and message routing across distributed components.
  • Develop and maintain data exchange and persistence layers using XML, JSON, and PostgreSQL (AWS RDS), ensuring data integrity, performance, and security.
  • Deploy and operate workloads on AWS (EC2, S3, ECS, EBS, RDS, Lambda) running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, following federal security and compliance requirements
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and automate build, test, and release pipelines through Git and Jenkins to support continuous integration and delivery.
  • Apply secure coding practices, perform code reviews, and remediate findings from static analysis, vulnerability scans, and security assessments.
  • Collaborate with solutions architects, product owners, and government stakeholders in an Agile/Scrum environment to refine requirements, estimate effort, and deliver iterative releases.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance across the full stack, including front-end responsiveness, API latency, and database query efficiency.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, including design artifacts, API specifications, deployment runbooks, and operations and maintenance procedures.
  • Support production deployments, incident response, and sustainment activities to ensure high availability of mission-critical systems.
Requirements
  • US Citizenship (ability to obtain and maintain a DHS 6C Public Trust clearance)
  • Bachelor's degree or higher (computer science background recommended but not required with suitable experience)
  • Periodic onsite presence (approximately 1-2 days per month) in Crystal City, VA
  • 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Hands on experience in designing and developing scalable applications
  • Front-end UI Development with React, JavaScript, CSS
  • Java/Spring/Spring Boot for middle tier development
  • AWS Cloud for back-end infrastructure
Preferred Additional Skills and Qualifications
  • Python, SQL, Git and GitHub
  • Relational databases (JPA/JDBC persistence)
  • IaC (Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins)
  • Spring Boot microservices (GraphQL/REST)
  • Containerization (Docker)
  • Container Orchestration (AWS ECS/EKS, Kubernetes or OpenShift)
  • Experience working in a government or high-security environment is a plus
