Job description

Sandvik Mining & Rock is recruiting for a Freight Administrator for our Romeoville warehouse Outbound Operations on our 1st Shift (Mon-Fri 8:00AM-4:30PM).
As the Freight Administrator you will be responsible for scheduling pick-ups with carriers, preparing shipping documents and following up on customer inquiries with internal and external stakeholders.
Main responsibilities Include:
  • Manage carrier changes
  • Scheduling, quoting, and routing of Truckload and Expedited shipments
  • Ensure all consignments are shipped in the most cost-effective way and are in adherence with shipping guidelines
  • Process unrouteable orders: Criticality 1 shipments for US, Canada, Mexico, and international shipments
  • Prepare shipping documents: Bills of Lading, SLI's, Commercial Invoices, etc.
  • Ensure appropriate actions are taken to resolve shipping documentation issues or missed shipments
  • Follow-up on daily inquiries for carrier change requests, expedited/must ship requests, exceptions and shipment tracking.
  • Maintain integrity of freight management systems
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • May perform other duties and participate in other projects as required within the department
  • Warehouse administration and housekeeping
  • Other duties as assigned due to business needs

Experience and Required Competencies
  • Minimum 2 years previous experience in a transportation environment including domestic and international shipments
  • Previous experience in a Transportation Management System
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong computer skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel

EDUCATION, LICENCES & CERTIFICATES
High School or equivalent experience. Post-secondary education/training in business or supply chain discipline would be of advantage.

English Proficiency: Advanced (CEFR C1/ Completed EF level 12)

Compensation
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $26.00-$27.50 based on experience and, exclusive of fringe benefits and shift differentials.
